At first glance, “Moon Pollen” feels a little out there, right? It seems impossible. I mean, for one thing, flowers don’t grow on the moon!
Plus, even if you saw moon pollen as moon dust, the STEPS and TIME it would take to hold the moon’s soil in your hands is out-of-this-world overwhelming. (Plus, I hear those lunar grains are SHARP AF!)
But this newsletter isn’t about the first-glance, literal perspective. It dives deeper. It explores what comes up in the “second glance.” It’s a weekly double-take of sorts that I hope will:
…open your imagination and ignite your curiosity.
…give you courage to see things a little differently.
…allow you to revel in the overlooked things.
Through a Moon Pollen lens, flowers don’t grow on the moon yet.
Through a Moon Pollen lens, the wait to hold moon dust is worth it.
Here, the unthinkable becomes possible, and everything that’s challenging is redefined into something worth appreciating.
Moon Pollen is an umbrella term for things that give you goosebumps, make you go, “Ah, HA!!”, inspire you to MOVE, or gift you that oh-so-needed patience to wait.
It’s about everyday magic and tiny miracles.
Every Wednesday, I’ll post a story or some musings that I hope will give you a sip of wonder, a spark of inspiration, or a glimmer of hope. Sometimes, they’ll be short ‘n’ sweet. Other times, you’ll be pouring another cup or hiding in the bathroom.
Oftentimes, they’ll contain a lesson from nature like this one:
Did you know moonflowers ONLY bloom when there’s a full moon? (!!!)
How is that even possible? How do these things only open up in a very specific window of time with a very specific amount of light?
When my faith is wavering, this is the stuff that brings me back.
These rebellious beauties remind me that…
Even in the darkness, beautiful things can happen. In fact, ONLY in the darkness can certain things blossom. ONLY in the hardest and most uncertain of times can we truly grow.
There is a bigger plan. While God’s timing is mysterious and comically torturous, from what I’ve seen, it’s perfect.
Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. All this time…all these years…I had NO idea that flowers were blooming under the moon!
Don’t be afraid to be different. Yes, everyone around you may be blooming under the sun every day, but maybe you were purposely made to do things a different way. Maybe you’re meant to be a “late bloomer” with a smaller audience and an even smaller window to perform, but I bet those who see you will never forget you. And that is pretty dang cool. That is enough.
Speaking of timing, visibility, and enough-ness, that brings me to another topic I’ll be focusing on:
Moon Pollen is also about the process of creating.
Seeing as I just self-published my first book, I’ll naturally be writing a LOT about that. (Fun fact: My publishing imprint is called Moon Pollen Press.)
From all the ways I broke the rules, to what was easier than I thought, to the tough stuff peeps don’t talk about + mooore, I look forward to sharing with you the experiences I’ve been pining to put words to.
ALSO.
Because I’m a multi-passionate butterfly who loves variety and is addicted to learning and starting new things, you can bet your butt you’ll hear about a lot more schtuff. (I want to start a podcast, help people make books, finish the OTHER book I’ve been working on for a bajillion years, host more events, and, and, and.)
BUT.
I’m also a mom to an almost 5-year-old boy. So, while I’m super inspired to make all these things, the reality is that I’m tired. And I want to be a good mother. I want to be present and soak up these long days and fleeting years.
Therefore, you’ll naturally be hearing about the inevitable tensions and internal tug-of-wars that happen when mama wants to make things. (Right this second, I’m giving JeeWoo another show with breakfast so I can finally jot down the words I’ve been waiting…and waiting…and waiting for. Do I feel guilty and filled up all at once? Absolutely. Motherhood is the biggest dichotomy of all time!)
Well, not sure I’ve even made sense today, but in the spirit of what these digital ditties will be about, I’m gonna just go for it…start it…and say that this one is good enough for jazz.
I’m also gonna let Morgan Harper Nichols close us out with her usual words of gold:
Thank you SO much for being here.
Can’t wait to see what unfolds,
Brit
P.S. What do you hope to gain from reading Moon Pollen?
P.P.S. Have you had any “moon pollen moments” lately?

I love all of this, & as a late-blooming do-it-my-own-way kinda gal, I especially love the exploration & curiosity 💜
I said to a friend the other day that it’s funny how consciousness has ruined us. Do you think the moon flower spends all day wondering why it doesn’t bloom when the other flowers do? No! It blooms in its tiny sliver of light because it knows that’s when it’s time to be magical. It just knows. May we all just know when it’s our time.
